The Pant & New Inn Farm June 8th

Two neighbouring private gardens hidden deep in the Welsh valleys, both strongly and imaginatively connected to the landscape, both belonging to notable garden journalists, and opening especially for us.

First visit of the day is The Pant, Camilla and Jeremy Swift’s garden, a brilliant, inspiring garden, formal and wild, personal and eccentric, full of deft and humorous references to everything from art and poetry to classical history. The garden climbs upwards in a series of terraces, with many diversions en route and unveils an archaeological mystery at the top.

We have a picnic lunch at The Pant and then it’s a short stroll across to Stephen Anderton’s New Inn Farm, which he describes as being mainly about the woodland and the riverbank at this time of year, with trees and moss - a green and peaceful place to wander.

The tour starts and ends at Newport (Wales) station. Travel between the station and gardens will be by coach.

10.23am. Meet coach at Newport Station. 16.30. Depart gardens for station. (Based on trains from London and Bristol).
